Example Volunteer Itinerary

With any of our opportunities, we recommend at least a 10-14+ day trip to accommodate travel, jet lag, and projects.

Proposed Itinerary*:

• Day 1- All parties arrive, and travel from the airport to Place of Refuge Village (PRV)

• Day 2- Acclimate and familiarize yourself with the area, and local food market

• Day 3- PRV Projects (wells, agriculture, building, etc.)

• Day 4- PRV Projects (wells, agriculture, building, etc.)

• Day 5- PRV Projects (wells, agriculture, building, etc.), Visit the local school

• Day 6- Conduct church service in PRV

• Day 7- Trip to the Equator, packing for Kampala

• Day 8- Travel to Kampala, Lake Victoria

• Day 9- Local Market, Ndere Cultural Center dance/dinner

• Day 10- Banda Acholi Quarters - Jeremiah Women, make Banda Beads

• Day 11- Craft Market, Kampala tour

• Day 12- Character Program Banda Acholi Quarters, individual home visits

• Day 13- Kampala Church, learn a local skill

• Day 14- Jinja source of the Nile trip

• Day 15- Packing, early final group dinner, airport

*Itinerary is subject to change based on current projects, size of group, length of trip, etc.

• Important Dates:

  • Deposit Due ($250) 60+ days before the start date of the trip.

  • 30+ days prior: Remaining Balance Due, no refunds available for deposit. You also need to provide full flight information to Kids Inspiring Kids.

Cost:

• $2500 per person for a 14-day experience

• Longer trips may have additional costs. See below for what is and is not included with the fee.

Included in the price: 

• Transportation to and from Entebbe airport in Uganda

• Transportation to and from organized KIK events

• Organized and planned Trip meals

• Lodging in Place of Refuge Village and Kampala

• Drinking Water

• Washing powder/soap for bathing and clothes

NOT Included in the price:

• Personal passports

• Vaccines - Yellow Fever Required (please refer to our FAQs)

• Airfare (Usually between $1,000.00-$2,000.00)- we recommend using www.kayak.com or one of our preferred travel agents

• Visas ($50.00 + online processing fees)

• Crafts/Gifts

• Personal Transport

• Medicine/Medical

• Additional snacks/food/drinks

• Side trips/Excursions (Additional trips, safaris, white water rafting, bungee jumping, ATVing, etc. can be planned for additional costs/time)

Additional Info

• Note that you will need to leave 1 to 2 days PRIOR to the scheduled itinerary for the length of airline travel AND time changes.

• $250.00 non-refundable deposit is required by the dates posted (60 days prior to the scheduled trip, exceptions made only by specific requests, and approvals).

• The remaining balance of the trip must be paid in full 30 days prior to the scheduled trip after which point no refunds are allowed.

• Full flight information must be sent to us 30 days prior (exceptions must have written permission from KIK staff).

• Once the deposit is paid, KIK will send the finalized itinerary, travel/packing checklist, and additional information.

• Please keep in mind passports can take 4-6 weeks and must have more than 6 months remaining in order to be valid. There is a rush service available if needed. https://www.uspassporthelpguide.com/
